Harland Simon was among the sponsoring companies of the ASEAN Newspaper Printers Conference held this month in Bangkok, supporting a better future for newspaper printers in the ASEAN economic area.
The objective of the conference, organised by ASEAN Newspaper Printers Ltd (ANP), was to facilitate networking and sharing of knowledge amongst newspaper professionals and plant seeds of optimisms and new ideas. With a total of over 160 delegates from 18 different countries, the event featured a busy programme of speakers and was attended by newspaper printers from seven out of ten ASEAN countries.
Supporting the main theme for the conference “Seeding Growth”, the most popular topics focused on innovation. Amongst the interesting aspects discussed at the event, was that despite the emergence of on-line newspaper editions, the majority of publishing income still comes from print. WAN-IFRA estimates that globally more than 93% of publishing income is generated by print versions and that print will continue to be a major source of revenue for many years to come.
